In the Great Gatsby, Daisy is married to Tom but she still has some feelings for her ex boyfriend for 5 years Gatsby. This is why i'm relating this Ted talk about Daisy's feeling for both Gatsby and Tom. When I was watching Helen Fisher talk, I was mainly thinking about Gatsby's obsession with getting Daisy back. One thing I remember she said was "the main characteristics of romantic love is craving", and that's why I think Gatsby is appearing that way because he is craving the love he and Daisy had and is trying anything to have it. She also says the wanting/craving on the mind it's more of a drive. In addition, she relates obsession to motivation. But this all just comes back to Daisy not knowing what she wants. She has more of a deep attachment to Gatsby because they were together for a long time and way before any of them had money. So she will always have love for Gatsby, but she probably doesn't want to leave Tom to get back with him. With Tom she has an "intense romantic love" in the words of Helen Fisher because she did have a child with him and even though he cheat on he multiple times and treats her wrong, I believe she thinks they will eventually work everything out and move forward, Helen Fisher's ted talk corresponds with the Great Gatsby with the situation with Daisy, Tom, and Gatsby and this is why I choose this ted talk.
